Archiving utilities have been around for a long time. They are essential for storing data efficiently, transferring a large number of files and more. What's more, you can find such a program quite fast, but if you take your time, you may find some applications which are worth searching for. One of these programs is WinArchiver. It works fast and it comes with a series of features which are rarely found in other similar applications. Its familiar interface allows you to work in a very comfortable manner.

The program's setup file is close to 3 MB. Installing its components on your computer will take a few seconds and you may set up its file associations when it is done. WinArchiver works on all Windows platforms, from Win 98 to Win 7 and its system requirements are modest. If you have a processor of at least 166 MHz and 64 MB of RAM, you can run the software without any problems.

The interface has the same layout as an explorer window. You can either browse through your files, select and right click them and click an option to add them to an archive. Alternatively, you may click the Add option, located on the toolbar and select the files, on a standard Open dialog. Besides Zip and 7z archives, the software is capable of creating mountable archives, as well as ISO and extended image files.

WinArchiver can also mount archives or image files. Once installed, it will create a virtual drive, but you can add new ones as well. Additionally, you can use the software to burn an image to a disc or create an image from a CD or DVD. Like other similar programs, WinArchiver will add new options in the Windows Explore context menu, so you may compress your files right away, without running the software.

Pros

WinArchiver provides everything you would expect from an archiver. It supports a wide range of archive formats, including popular ones, such as RAR, ZIP, 7ZIP and more. The software is capable of creating mountable archives or image files and mount them on its own virtual drives.

Cons

You can not browse through your files with the software's trial version. Thanks to its simplicity and efficiency, WinArchiver enables you to create and manage archives without any effort.
